Educated at Mount Allison University (B.Sc. 1978) and Dalhousie University (LL.B., M.B.A. 1982). Called to the Bar of Nova Scotia in 1982. At the time of his appointment, Partner, Patterson Law and part-time professor at Dalhousie Law School (tax law). Prior to his appointment, completed a two year secondment (under the Interchange Canada program) with Revenue Canada Taxation Rulings Directorate. Former Governor of Canadian Tax Foundation. Has made numerous presentations at Canadian Tax Foundation, Canadian Bar Association, and other conferences. Appointed Judge of the Tax Court of Canada on November 23, 2006.
